Choosing Your Wedding Music
Music often goes unnoticed in restaurants and coffee shops, but it creates ambiance, determines liveliness, and gets people moving. Your wedding is no different! Of course, during your wedding ceremony you probably do not want people to be shakin’ their hips, but that might be exactly what you want on the dance floor at the reception. It’s important to think about the music during both the ceremony and the reception so that you can create the perfect atmosphere.
What do you want to hear? There are a few options and things to think about.
During the ceremony, do you want live music or something pre-recorded? There are several options for live music: a singer, a choir, a small musical ensemble, or a band. Obviously a singer or choir only works if you want to play songs with words. Both sound better indoors because the voices don’t need to travel infinitely. If you’re planning a wedding outdoors, a small ensemble or band is better because the sound will carry; both also work better for traditional wedding pieces, like the wedding march. If you prefer something pre-recorded, you should think about whether you want a traditional, instrumental piece or a vocal piece. Keep in mind that vocal pieces may be more distracting to your guests than instrumental pieces.

Whatever you decide for the ceremony, you may want something completely different for the reception. Live music creates excitement and a great DJ can keep the guests dancing the night away with a variety of music. Keep in mind that if money is a concern, a DJ is often less expensive than hiring a band.
If you do hire a DJ, many times it is helpful to give the DJ a list of songs that you want to hear. But don’t just focus on the songs you want to hear; there are plenty of songs that you probably do not want to hear at your wedding reception. TrulyWeddingBlog.com suggests creating a “Do Not Play List” so you don’t end up with your guests wondering if it’s a wedding reception or a high school dance.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun with it!

I used AFD for the flowers for my daughter’s wedding this past May, after reading some of your past customers’ favorable comments (I even located the phone number for one of them and called her — you got a rave review!) I could not have been more pleased! The flowers were true to color, fresh and held up well. Our daughter was happy, the bouquets worked up beautifully, and your prices made it very affordable. I’ve recommended AFD to others, and a friend has recently asked me to do the flower for her wedding in December. Of course, we will be ordering from you!
Thank you
