Sandy & Brian’s Engagement Story

Here’s another engagement story we thought you would enjoy…  This one is from Sandy. Enjoy!

“Brian and I live in San Diego and traveled back to Ohio to visit with our families for the first time since Brian had made the move out west.  Both Brian and I grew up in Ohio and met through friends through playing volleyball.  Since Brian and I are involved with sports… this came into play during the proposal. 
 
I was competing in a sand volleyball tournament with a childhood friend, Michelle.  It was an incredibly humid, hot day in Cleveland, Ohio… just how I remembered it growing up.  After playing five volleyball matches, Michelle and I moved into the finals.  Brian and his brother, Jeff, arrived to the courts to cheer us on.  A bunch of the friends that introduced Brian and I years earlier surrounded the sand court.  After a hard, sweaty battle, Michelle and I spiked our way to victory! 
 
The usually protocol for winning a volleyball tournament in Ohio is receiving a prize plus a beverage of choose.  As Michelle and I waited at the bar for our beer, a handful of our friends gathered around Brian and Jeff.  We eventually walked over to them.  By that time, everyone was sitting on the side of the court while Brian stood in front of them.  Jeff convinced me to stand by Brian to take pictures.  I started to pose for the pictures when Brian dropped down to one knee.  I thought he was just posing… so I continued to look straight at our friends who had cameras gallore.  None of them seemed to be taking pictures, so I looked down at Brian to see what he was up to.  To my surprise, he was holding a tiny blue ring box!  Of course I started to cry of joy when he officially asked me to marry him. 
 
A week later, our friends forwarded pictures of us and wow – did I look like a mess!  Not only did the pictures show my surprised face, but how hot, sandy, and sweaty I was!  haha I was even holding the beer that I was awarded for winning the tournament. ”
