i am asking people to reply by email, rather than sending out & asking people to send back reply cards.
in lieu of favors, we are donating money to a charity.
We’re trying to reduce as much new purchases and waste as possible. Our invitations were sent by e-mail, my dress is a vintage gown, our wedding party are all wearing dresses/suits they already owned, and our centerpieces have live plants that are favors at the end of the night.
People are responding on our wedding website rather than printing additional response cards and envelopes. We’re saving paper, gasoline, and time!
Since we are having a large wedding, we want to reduce our use of paper. So, for our invitations and programs we made sure everything is printed on both front and back. We know it might not look as fancy as other programs and invites we’ve seen but we decided being ‘green’ is more important than being fancy.
And in place of favors for each guest, we are donating money to our two favorite charities.
Im really into having a lot of pictures at my wedding, so instead of buying disposable cameras, I am encouraging people ahead of time to bring their digital cameras and upload our wedding photos on here.
We love to grow flowers and gardens and are encouraging our guests to do the same so, we are giving away flower seeds to our guests for giveaways.
We are having a “local” wedding. All of our vendors and venues are within a 20 mile radius from our home! Even my wedding shoes are made locally. Having everything extremely local was very important for us, and green too!!
We are sending invitations to each family rather than each person. We are getting guests to RSVP by phone or email, i am wearing a vintage gown, the guys are wearing rentals. I am reusing my grandmothers pearls, and regular pair of shoes. Also, our ceremony and reception are at the same site, saving on gas and being easier on nature. Were making our centerpieces and we are buying local flowers.
Thank you all for your submission! We’re so excited to see that you are all doing something green for your wedding. It’s so important that all of us take steps to help out the environment — even if they’re small.
We’re excited to announce our winner of THIS month’s The Wedding Lens Giveaway soon! If you don’t win, we hope that you’ll participate in our upcoming giveaways! We hope to have at least one a month… so keep coming back!
Thanks again!
Natasha
