To Shave or not to Shave?

A friend of mine is getting married later this year. He has a beard. These two things might seem unrelated, but when it comes to the wedding planning process, suddenly the one and the other are completely intertwined. How’s that? Well, some of the people involved in the wedding planning process (who shall remain nameless) want him to shave for the wedding while others in the wedding planning process (who shall also remain nameless) do not want him to shave.

So the question is: to shave or not to shave?

I’m guessing that if you read this blog on a regular basis, you can probably guess where I come out. I am of the belief that a couple’s wedding day is for THEM. The day and the details should reflect the couple — their personalities, their attitudes, and their appearance. In other words – stay as you are. Don’t bother changing. And yes, that means don’t bother shaving.

Really? Yes. Really. I would go so far as to say that if you usually have blue hair, you should have blue hair for the wedding. You dont want to look back on your pictures and think – “who’s that?” Or feel like it isn’t truly “you” in those photos.

This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t look nice for your wedding day. Just that you should look and feel like yourself. So trim the beard, comb your blue hair, and look your very best.

But, my friend, keep the beard. :)
