Wedding Question: What Vendors Do I Need?
I’m getting married next year and I’m just getting started thinking about the wedding planning process. I know that some venues have “packages” but I have no idea what kinds of vendors I should look into or where to start with vendors. Can you provide some guidance?
Thanks for your question! Vendors can be a tough match — and it depends on the venue and what your venue offers, as you noted. In general, here are the vendors and other outsourcing you should think about:
1. Caterer for food (make sure it includes servers, otherwise add that to the list!)
2. Bartender for drinks (some venues require you to have a licensed bartender, sometimes this is included with the caterer)
3. Florist for the flowers
4. Bakery for your wedding cake
5. DJ/band for your music (do they emcee? otherwise you might need a microphone set up at the venue separately. also, do they provide a dancefloor if the venue doesn’t have one?)
6. Table/chair rental company
7. Photographer/videographer
8. Photo sharing website so you can collect all your photos in one easy album
9. Paper product company (as in: Save the dates, invitations, programs)
10. Favors (if you want them)
Of course that list will just get you thinking about what you need! By the way, when you’re selecting your vendors, be sure to check out How to Pick Vendors For Your Wedding!

If you’re having your reception outside at night, you might also need lighting. Sometimes DJ’s can handle it.
