There are lots of wonderful officiants out there who can work with you and help co-create the authentic ceremony you want to have! I am an Interfaith minister and often work with couples of different faith backgrounds, and with couples who want a spiritual ceremony but not necessarily a religious one. I highly recommend starting early in finding the best officiant for you and your partner. It really can help in the whole ceremony planning! I considered joining the Romanian Orthodox church, but decided it wasn't for me, that I would be doing it for the wrong reasons. We found a nondenominational officiant who came highly recommended by other brides in the NYC area. She was able to create a beautiful ceremony for us that was nondenominational but still incorporated Romanian Orthodox traditions. It was great. Everyone loved it.
